The Legacy of Martin Luther King and the Activism of Chicago’s Own Fred Hampton
January 19, 2021
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Jeffrey Haas, Attorney
Moderator: Professor Hatcher, Cashmere Cozart
In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day we wanted to highlight not only Dr. King's legacy, but other activists during his lifetime. On January 19, 2021 we'll be discussing Dr. King and Fred Hampton with attorney, Jeffrey Haas. Mr. Haas authored The Assassination of Fred Hampton: How the FBI and the Chicago Police Murdered a Black Panther. Mr. Haas led an investigation into the FBI for years seeking justice for Fred Hampton's death. He will also discuss the systemic changes Dr. King and Fred Hampton were organizing to accomplish.
We think this is a great time to highlight Fred Hampton's while discussing Dr. King's legacy - especially given the movie biopic that will soon be released, Judas and the Black Messiah.
