Spark is UIC’s very own music concert that takes place in the first few weeks of the Fall semester. Spark is free for UIC students. In 2010 as a back-to-school event, Spark was designed to bring local, national, little known, and well-known artists to campus. The Spark offers a mix of entertainment for UIC’s diverse campus community.

When: Saturday, September 30, 2023

Time: 5:00pm to 10:00pm

Doors close at 7:30pm. No attendees will be allowed into the venue after this time.

Location: Harrison Field | 836 W. Harrison, Chicago, IL 60607 (Located on the corner of Halsted and Harrison streets)

RSVP is highly encouraged. UIC students, alumni, staff and faculty will also be allowed to check-in at the door.

Spark is a closed event for UIC students, staff and faculty. No outside guests allowed. No tickets for sale. Gates open at 5:00 pm and close at 7:30 pm. No re-entry into the venue. Students and staff/faculty may be asked to present their iCard at the door.

Alumni Registration Info:
UIC Alumni are invited to attend SPARK 2023. Alumni can register under the "UIC Alumni" tab on the registration page. Alumni MUST bring their old iCard OR a valid state ID/driver's license to present at the door.

Prohibited items:
This is a university-sponsored event. All students will adhere to the Student Code of Conduct. The following is a partial list of items that are prohibited:

  • Outside Food and Beverage. No water bottles will be permitted in the venue.
  • Alcohol, tobacco, vape pens, drugs -  including marijuana in any form
  • Cameras: No flash/professional photography
  • Audio or Video Recording Devices, including selfie sticks
  • Bags: Backpacks, Large Bags, Suitcases, or any purse/bag larger than 14″x14″x6″
  • Tripods/Monopods, Laser Pointers, Alcohol, Drugs, Noise Making Devices, Fireworks, Flashlights, Skateboards/ Rollerblades, Beach Balls, Cans or Bottles
  • Any item that could pose a safety hazard or restrict the enjoyment of another guest
  • Weapons are prohibited. This includes (but is not limited to): firearms, explosives, stun guns, handcuffs, brass knuckles, sticks, clubs, batons, martial arts instruments, pepper spray, tear gas, knives, etc. Guests found in possession of the above-mentioned items will be asked to remove the item from the venue or dispose of it. Guests who refuse to comply will be ejected from the venue and may be subject to arrest.

Parking Information:

The CTA Blue Line (UIC/Halsted stop) will be closed this weekend. For more information regarding CTA closures, please visit this website. Please plan ahead if you are planning on taking CTA public transportation. Paid parking is also available at various parking structures around campus. Please park at the following locations:

  • Halsted/Taylor Parking Structure | 760 West Taylor Street
  • Harrison Street Parking Structure | 1100 West Harrison Street
  • Lot 1B | 1139 West Harrison Street
