Dr. Leslyn Hanakahi is of Native Hawaiian ancestry and was born and raised on the island O’ahu. She received her Ph.D. from Yale University, her post-doctoral training at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in England, UK, and returned to America to set up an independent research lab and pursue her career in research and higher education.
