As we recognize Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this year, we also recognize the current climate around his work such as book bans and other legislation that prohibit discussion of his contributions. The UIC Law Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion has invited speakers to have a panel discussion and Q&A about Dr. King's legacy and the impact the recent ban of his work, and related work, will have on our education system and society at large. We invite you to join us for this important discussion on January 18 at noon via Zoom.
Speakers:
Deborah Caldwell-Stone, Director of the American Library Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom
Professor Hatcher, Assistant Professor of Law, Director, Community Enterprise & Solidarity Economy Clinic
Gina Caneva, Teacher and Library Media Specialist at East Leyden High School
